Eltra Elektromaschinen- und Transformatorenbau GmbH founded by Bernd Engel, Robert Weinand, Andreas Filz and Bruno Zender.


A new production hall with an area of more than 1000 m² and an additional administration building were constructed.


Quality management system according to EN ISO 9001 was implemented and certified by DQS Frankfurt, valid until 2002. Up from that year, all of the processes are carried out in conformity with the corresponding directives.


Production capacities were enlarged by a supplementary hall with more than 1000 m². An assembly line with encapsulation system was introduced, in order to produce completely encapsulated transformers (isolating safety transformers) for illumination technology. Furthermore, a strip winding machine was purchased, so that aluminum and copper windings for coils and chokes could be manufactured as well.


Production of starting and isolating transformers according to the requirements of classification societies for naval construction, e.g. (Klassifikationsgesellschaften auflisten), and their inspections carried out on site.

Adaptation of the software to Windows basis, development of new software tools for construction and sales departments


Introduction of a proper UL isolating system and type related UL admissions for transformers and chokes.


Production area meanwhile has reached 3000 m². A second strip winding machine was installed, and the in-house mechanical department was complemented by a new lathe and bending technology for metals.


Our product portfolio was enlarged by :

  • High voltage air-core transformers for water treatment, ozone and foil coating plants
  • High voltage isolating transformers
  • Special transformers for research applications


A third strip winding machine was set into operation, in order to achieve increased width for wrapping foil.


A new impregnating machine and another drying stove were installed.


3D CAD construction software was implemented in the system.


Further update of the in-house software for purchase and sales departments.


New archiving software to speed up management procedures and document handling.
